The loop trail at the Rachel Carson Wildlife Preserve in Wells, Maine is allows for an easy walk through a peaceful, natural setting. Viewing areas set up throughout the trail highlight the most noteworthy viewing spots. This is a thoughtfully planned venue which is great for all nature lovers. We didn't see much wildlife in our time at the Preserve, but we know there is a lot out there. Bring your binoculars!

Chesterfield Gorge offers a 3/4 mile hike with fantastic views. It isn't the longest hike, but there are great views of the gorge nearly the entire way. This one isn't recommended if you have difficulty navigating hilly terrain, but if that isn't an issue then this one is terrific if you want a short but rewarding hike - with or without the kids.

Goose Pond Loop Trail is located in the scenic town of Keene, New Hampshire. This is a scenic 2 mile hike offering fantastic views of Goose Pond. Parking is available at the start of the trail which leads up into the woods. It isn't too long before you reach the pond itself which is calm and has a great New England feel to it. The rest of the hike is a mostly flat loop around the pond.

This bicycle trail is just over 3 miles in length and hugs the Connecticut River. It is great for walking and running as well. It is flat and well maintained. The scenery is nice also as you will pass a nice bridge and plentiful views of the river. Surprisingly, we have never seen this path get too busy, but there are usually a few people on it each time we visit.

The Mass Central Rail Trail offers many sections of trails throughout central Massachusetts. Many of these are great for walking, running, walking your dog, going for a stroll with baby in tow, and cross-country skiing.
